Meet Our Gold Level Exhibitors – Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK

Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK is committed to connectivity – using the latest technology to keep operators fully connected to their trucks.

As part of the global Daimler Truck family, we have been producing trucks for 125 years, so we have a long history of serving operators with heavy-duty transport solutions.

Since that first Daimler Truck was sold to the British Motor Syndicate in London way back in 1896, we have continued to innovate with a range of technological solutions. Each generation of the Mercedes-Benz Actros has been named International Truck of the Year at its launch, and the latest example – the Actros L – is equipped with Active Brake Assist 5, MirrorCam and Multimedia Cockpit, to improve driver comfort, road safety and save time and money for customers.

Accessed via the central touchscreen display of the Multimedia Cockpit, the Truck App Portal is the driver’s digital interface in the truck, and serves as a marketplace for truck-specific apps, where fleet managers and owners can install apps to help increase the performance of the fleet even further.

The open platform gives operators the opportunity to put together solutions for their specific business. It allows vehicles to be individually equipped with apps that increase value to the customer – fleet managers can access all of the available apps via a clearly organised platform and then initiate the installation process to assign apps to individual vehicles.

Some examples of these apps include the Mercedes-Benz TRUCKTraining app, and third-party apps such as Microlise, BP In-Truck Pay and Continental TPMS. Industry partners develop these third-party apps, but we also allow customers to develop and deploy their own applications – it’s really simple to bring existing applications to our platform.

Connectivity solutions such as these are radically transforming the transportation sector – our trucks have approximately 400 sensors that generate vast amounts of data, and have software that contains over 100 million lines of code

Our Fleetboard application helps to translate this data into usable business intelligence allows organisations to provide products and services to customers in order to supercharge their supply chain – be it planning the most efficient route or understanding the location of an asset to improving driver performance and safety.

As the world of connectivity evolves, so do we. Mercedes-Benz Uptime is our revolutionary telediagnosis system which monitors various electronic sensors on the truck in real time and can detect critical conditions related to these sensors at an early stage. Using this data, we can alert drivers and fleet managers to anything that needs attention, providing optimal repair solutions in good time. In short, Mercedes-Benz Uptime can prevent breakdowns before they happen, minimising workshop time and keeping trucks on the road, where they belong.

From connecting the driver to their truck via the Multimedia Cockpit, connecting the truck to the operator via Mercedes-Benz Uptime, or connecting the fleet manager to the truck via the Truck App Portal, we’re committed to maximising efficiencies and saving our customers both time and money.
