Jonathan is a senior adviser at the Government Office for Science, leading on various elements of its wider transport and infrastructure portfolio. Since joining in 2016, he has been intimately involved in the Government Office for Science’s Foresight Future of Mobility project, from its inception to its launch in January 2019. Within this body of work, Jonathan has supported the Government Chief Scientific Adviser by directing evidence gathering, engagement with the transport community and policy insights to shape the final report and its published evidence base.
Having worked in public and private sector R&D, Jonathan has drawn on his experiences from industry and academia throughout his time at GO-Science. His research has spanned chemistry and physics domains; with a focus on renewable energy, clean technology and new methodologies in characterising novel materials of technological importance. He is now enjoying the current future focus of his role, ensuring decision-makers have access to the latest evidence, and focussing on the cross-cutting areas of importance to the UK’s economy and society.
