Caroline Barber is chief executive at Transaid and has worked in logistics and international development for over 17 years. She is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the organisation.
Prior to becoming chief executive, Caroline was Transaid’s head of programmes where she was responsible for Transaid’s existing programmes as well as developing new partnerships and opportunities. Here Caroline managed a programmes portfolio spanning seven countries and covering transport management, community managed transport, emergency transport, rural access and professional driver training. Caroline continues to provide technical assistance to programmes in Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania and Ghana.
Caroline started her career with Wincanton where she previously held roles in project management, implementation and business development.
Caroline is also a supervisory board member of the North Star Alliance, an NGO providing healthcare to mobile workers and the communities they interact with across Africa.
During her speech, Caroline will reflect on 25 years of Transaid’s work to transform lives through safe, available and sustainable transport across sub-Saharan Africa. She will talk about how partnerships with the transport and logistics industry have been and continue to be crucial to Transaid’s operations, sharing details of the organisation’s new strategy that commences in 2024 and the goals and ambitions that form part of this. She will discuss the key challenges that Transaid is currently facing, and address how delegates can get involved with the initiatives that Transaid has planned for this year and beyond.
